Love This

Eventing Nation posted this video on their blog this morning (for me) and I just had to share!
It amazes me how so many horses will keep going even without a rider. Do you think he loves his job?  (I'm glad no one was hurt, though! Those reins could have so easily slipped over a front leg. It made me cringe.)

  1. Wow, that's amazing! I actually think my little Z might do something like that. Here lately when I point him at a fence he just goes. :)

  2. Every time someone tells me its cruel to jump horses, I'm like "you have no idea, my horse would get so PISSED if he wasn't allowed to do the jump off." I use to do like the 2', 2'6", 3' classes in a row, and by the second or third one he'd have the course memorized- and if he happened to knock a rail I'd have to do everything in my power to keep him from doing the jump-off course, and he'd leave the arena so mad and sour ha. He LOVED his job. Now, I don't really think you should make a horse jumps who just hates it- horses, like people, like different things and each is suited to different things. My horse and I started doing the old western pleasure thing- he hated it, and I hated it. We played around with a lot of different things until we found jumping- and he LOVED it. He won everything and he was the kind of horse who I would let out in the arena to run around and he'd jump the jumps for fun.

But I loved this video, too. Although the reins flapping free also made me cringe, I loved that this horse was not deterred or scarred by his crash, but finished the line in style :)
